Lionel Messi bags his 7th Balon d’Or Award

Lionel Andrés Messi wins the 2021 Balon d’Or Award ahead of Robert Lewandoski and Jorginho. He now has the award more than any player in the history of football. Messi helped Argentina win the Copa America which is the first major international honour of his career.

Barcelona’s bankruptcy situation cut Messi’s stay at the club short as they could not afford to pay his wages anymore, forcing out of Camp Nou and moving to the France Giants Paris Saint-Germain F.C. were he currently plays.

Messi got 41 goals and 17 assists in the books for club and country in 2021. A remarkable record for 34 year old.

Congratulations to Messi and his family on their win.
