40 Lives Lost To A Boat Accident In Kano

Many were accounted for to have lost their lives following a boat accident in Badau village, Kano. No less than 40 individuals, generally women and children lost their lives to the accident.

The incident happened on Tuesday around 6 pm and this was confirmed by an eyewitness.

The eyewitness said that the boat, carrying passengers to Bagwai town from Badau Village turned over in the middle of the river.

The eyewitness said, “The passengers were travelling to the Bagwai town to attend the annual Mulud festival. The boat capsized due to overload, killing over 40 passengers mostly women and children. Scores of others sustained various degrees of injuries. Very few passengers survived the incident,”

The passengers of this accident died when the boat capsized because they weren’t able to swim to the water bank.
